Bug Out! event returns to Pokémon GO from August 10th to 16th

Niantic has announced that the Bug Out! event will be returning to Pokémon GO between August 10th at 10:00am to August 16th at 8:00pm local time. Grubbin, Charjabug, Vikavolt, and Mega Scizor will all be making their Pokémon GO debuts as part of this year's event.

Grubbin can be evolved into Charjabug anywhere for 25 Grubbin Candy, while Charjabug can be evolved into Vikavolt for 100 Grubbin Candy only when near an active Magnetic Lure Module.

Event bonuses and activities
During this event, the following bonuses will be active
  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
  • A surprise encounter with a Bug-type Pokémon when a photo is taken.
A bug-tastic Collection Challenge
A Collection Challenge featuring Bug-type Pokémon will be available during this event. Trainers who complete this challenge will receive the Bug Catcher Pose, and 15,000 XP. The pose will also be available for purchase in the in-game shop after the event ends.

A special Global Challenge will also kick off alongside Pokémon GO Fest: Sapporo on Friday, August 5th at 8:00am (GMT +9). Working together with Trainers around the world to complete this Field Research, Trainers will be able to unlock the following bonuses:
  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon during the remainder of the Global Challenge period, ending on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 8:00pm (GMT +9).
  • Ultra Unlock: Bug Out from August 10th at 10:00am to August 16th at 8:00pm local time.
  • Ultra Unlock: Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day on August 13th, from 11:00am to 7:00pm local time.

Bonuses for groups
Trainers can work together with each other to unlock additional bonuses. If three or more Trainers join an in-person Raid Battle, for 15 minutes even more of a certain wild Bug-type Pokémon will appear in a 300-meter radius around the Gym that hosted the raid. The Pokémon that will appear in greater numbers will change each day:
