The Pokémon Company International has announced that the 25th season of the long-running Pokémon animated series will be known as Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series when it sees its international release later this year. The series will continue to follow Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, as well as Goh and Chloe, as they embark on their latest adventures in the Pokémon world. For viewers in the United States, Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series will premiere on Netflix later this year.

This week, the official Pokémon Anime Twitter account released a new key visual to commemorate recent developments in the Pokémon anime. The poster features the top eight trainers ranked in the Pokémon World Coronation Series, a championship to determine the world's strongest Trainer, with their Pokémon. From left to right, the trainers are: Lance with his Gyrados, Alain with his Charizard, Diantha with her Gardevoir, Ash with his Pikachu, Leon with his Charizard, Cynthia with her Garchomp, Steven with his Metagross, and Iris with her Haxorus.

Pokémon: Hisuian Snow, a three-episode animated series produced in collaboration with Wit Studio, will premiere on May 18th

The online animated series set in the Hisui region that was teased during the Pokémon Presents livestream on Pokémon Day 2022 has now been fully revealed. The new three-episode series animated series, titled, "Pokémon: Hisuian Snow", is slated to premiere on May 18, 2022, exclusively on the official Pokémon YouTube channel and Pokémon TV. The series is being produced by The Pokémon Company International in collaboration with WIT STUDIO, who previously worked on 2018's Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us in collaboration with OLM. Wit Studio is best known for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, and has most recently been working on the incredibly popular Ranking of Kings, and this season's Spy × Family.

1-hour special broadcast announced for the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon anime on April 1st

The Pokémon anime will celebrate its 25th anniversary on April 1st. To commemorate this occasion, a one-hour anime special, featuring two Pokémon Journeys: The Series episodes, has been announced. VS shitennou 1jikan batoru supesharu (VS四天王1時間バトルスペシャル - VS The Elite Four 1 Hour Battle Special) will feature both new and returning characters, including the first Pokémon Journeys appearances of Clemont and Bonnie, who traveled with Ash in the Kalos region in Pokémon the Series: XY. The specials will air on TV Tokyo on April 1st, from 6.55 P.M. JST to 7.55 P.M. JST. The first episode of the Pokémon anime aired in Japan on April 1st, 1997.

Dawn returns to Pokémon anime for two summer special episodes

This far, appearances from classic characters in Pokémon Journeys have been sadly few and far between, with the series arguably not living up to its full globe trotting potential. With the impending release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in November however, it was perhaps less a question of if we'd see a classic Generation IV character from Sinnoh return, but when they'd be appearing. That question was answered yesterday with the announcement that Dawn, Ash's companion throughout the Diamond & Pearl arc of the Pokémon anime, will be returning to the series for two special episodes. The episodes, which go to air in Japan later this month on July 23rd and 30th, feature a story showcasing the Lunar duo legendaries Cresselia and Darkrai.
